Free Swimming in Sandwell

If you live in Sandwell and aged 18 and under or 60 plus you can register in centre to access FREE swimming during school holidays

  • ID will be required for proof of age
  • Those aged 60 plus can swim for FREE everyday until 1pm.
  • Sessions Available at: Sandwell Aquatics Centre ; Wednesbury Leisure Centre ; Tipton Leisure Centre

You can register for FREE swimming by visiting one of the centres listed above. Free swimming sessions can be very busy, so to speed up registration, you can create a free casual account by clicking HERE. This will help our team find you on our system faster.

FREE swimming is subject to availability during busy periods and does not include; swimming lessons, instructed or targeted sessions. Our under 8s swimming policy also applies.

Please note that free swimming for under 18’s does not include public or family sessions, unless specifically stated as a free-swimming session.  These sessions will be highlighted on the swimming timetable and centres will share designated free-swimming sessions on their social channels and view the swim timetables.

We want to ensure that all our customers experience a safe and enjoyable experience and we aim to provide an opportunity for all members to have access to these services. Designated free swimming sessions have been specifically introduced to help support demand and safe usage during busy periods during school holidays.

Adults aged 60 and above can swim for free up until 1pm at any time throughout the year. Free swimming for people aged 60 and over is available at all public swimming sessions which includes: lane swim and adult swim.

Q. Where do I join for free swimming?
If you are eligible, you can register for free swimming by visiting one of the SLT centres offering free swimming. The team will then get you set up and take a photo. Free swimming sessions can be very busy, so to speed up registration, you can create a free casual account by clicking HERE. This will help our team find you on our system faster.
  
Q. What proof do I need to confirm my age?
You will need to produce proof of age at the Leisure Centre such as birth certificate or passport.
 
Q. When can I swim for free?
Children aged 18 or below can swim for free during allocated sessions throughout Sandwell school holidays (for confirmed times visit the holiday swim timetable). Adults aged 60 and above can swim for free up until 1pm at any time throughout the year. Free swimming for people aged 60 and over is available at all public swimming sessions which includes: lane swim and adult swim. Please note Family Swim sessions are not included in free swimming.

You can swim for free at Tipton Leisure Centre, Sandwell Aquatics Centre and Wednesbury Leisure Centre
  
Q. If I don’t live in Sandwell but a family member does, can I swim for free?
Free swimming is only available for people that live in the Sandwell Borough. Please take proof of address on your initial visit for your membership to be activated.
 

Q.  Are there any swim times suitable for my child who has SEN?
Yes, there are reserved sessions especially for children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. These sessions are advertised to the public as SEN special sessions and therefore should provide a calmer, less busy environment for your child and their siblings. Please note these sessions are held during school holiday periods only.


Q. Can I apply on behalf of a family member?
You can only apply if you are the parent or guardian of the child. People aged 60 and over must apply for themselves.
