Double win at UKActive Awards

Sandwell Leisure Trust is celebrating a remarkable double win after being recognised at the prestigious UKactive Awards 2025, held at the ICC in Birmingham. The event brought together organisations from across the physical activity sector to celebrate excellence, innovation and community impact.

SLT proudly received the Digital Transformation Award, acknowledging the significant progress made in modernising systems, improving customer experience and increasing accessibility to leisure services across the Sandwell region. In addition, the Trust's senior leadership team won the Outstanding Leadership Team Award, voted for by the industry, recognising their ability to navigate challenges while keeping local communities at the heart of every decision.

These awards follow a rigorous assessment process carried out independently by Proinsight, with further scrutiny added by an external judging panel. Hundreds of entries were reviewed, making the Trust's achievement truly significant.

This national celebration, hosted by Professor Greg Whyte OBE and fitness author and presenter Laura Hoggins, showcased the very best of the sector across 22 award categories. Sandwell Leisure Trust stood out for its commitment to digital innovation and for the strength and vision of its senior leadership team.

Mark Braithwaite, Chief Executive of Sandwell Leisure Trust, said:
“We are absolutely thrilled to receive not just one but two awards at this year’s UKActive ceremony. This recognition reflects the dedication, creativity and passion of our teams across every site. We have been on a journey to ensure our services are modern, inclusive and focused on improving wellbeing in the communities we serve”

The awards evening also highlighted the vital role that physical activity organisations play in improving health and wellbeing nationwide, empowering communities and supporting people to live healthier, happier lives.

Huw Edwards, CEO of UKactive, said:
“These awards shine a light on the tireless work that takes place in our organisations and facilities across the UK to help people and communities access the benefits of physical activity. Every story from our awards highlights the positive change that our sector brings to the health and happiness of our nation.”

Sandwell Leisure Trust continues to lead the way in community-focused leisure services, ensuring local residents have the support, facilities and opportunities to stay active and well. SLT looks forward to building on this success over the coming year, with new developments and further improvements already in motion as we continue to be at the core of our community's fitness and wellbeing goals.
