National Fitness Day 2026: Powered by Community at Kore Sandwell

This September, Kore will proudly join organisations across the country in celebrating National Fitness Day, with a programme of community-focused activities set to take place across our centres. Activities are currently being finalised, with full details to be announced soon.

Taking place on Wednesday 16 September, National Fitness Day is the UK's biggest celebration of physical activity, highlighting the positive impact movement can have on our physical health, mental wellbeing and overall quality of life.

The annual campaign, led by ukactive, encourages people of all ages and abilities to take positive steps towards a healthier lifestyle.

At Kore, we believe that wellbeing is about much more than exercise alone. It is about building confidence, creating connections, supporting mental health and helping people feel their best, whatever their age, background or starting point.

This year's National Fitness Day theme is "Powered by You". At Kore Sandwell, we are embracing that spirit with our own community-led message: Powered by Community.

Every day, thousands of local people come through our doors to swim, exercise, learn new skills, play sport, improve their health and spend time with others. From families enjoying time together in our pools to individuals taking their first steps on a fitness journey, our centres are powered by the people who use them and the communities we serve.

Kore exists to help local people become more active, healthier and happier through accessible leisure, fitness and wellbeing opportunities across Sandwell.

National Fitness Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the incredible role that physical activity plays in strengthening communities. Research continues to show the positive relationship between being active and improved physical health, reduced stress, increased confidence and better overall wellbeing.

The campaign is designed not just to inspire activity for one day, but to encourage long-term, sustainable habits that support healthier lives.

As a charitable leisure trust at the heart of Sandwell's communities, Kore is committed to creating welcoming spaces where everyone can move more, feel better and connect with others.

Whether through swimming, fitness classes, gym workouts, racquet sports, children's activities or wellbeing programmes, our centres play an important role in supporting healthier lifestyles across the borough.

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing more information about how you can get involved in National Fitness Day at Kore. We're looking forward to bringing people together, celebrating the power of movement and showcasing the strength of our local communities.

Save the date: Wednesday 16 September 2026.

Together, we're powered by community.
