SLT Supports World Suicide Prevention Day

On Wednesday 10 September 2025, Sandwell Leisure Trust (SLT) will be joining people and organisations across the globe to mark World Suicide Prevention Day.

This year’s theme, “Changing the Narrative on Suicide,” is about moving from silence to understanding and from stigma to support. Suicide is not inevitable, by starting conversations, showing empathy, and offering support, we can all play a role in saving lives.

At SLT, we’re proud to raise awareness not only within our communities but also with our teams. Staff across our centres will be taking part in #WearItBlue, standing together to show support and solidarity for this important cause.

Activities at Our Centres

To support awareness and create opportunities for connection, we’ll be hosting a range of activities across our centres:

Sandwell Aquatics Centre
  • Walk and Talk: 12:30pm–1:30pm
  • Plus, enjoy 10% off drinks and a free cookie in the café for session attendees.
Tipton Sports Academy

  • Walk and Talk Sessions: 12pm–1pm and 5pm–6pm

Wednesbury Leisure Centre

  • History Walk of Wednesbury: 1pm

These sessions are a chance to come together, connect with others, and take part in gentle, supportive activities while raising awareness of suicide prevention.

Resources and Support

If you or someone you know is struggling, help is always available:

Andy's Man Club  Free peer-to-peer support groups across the UK, offering a safe place for men to talk.

While suicide can affect anyone, statistics show that rates are higher in men than women. That’s why it’s so important to highlight resources like Andy’s Man Club, while also recognising that support is available for everyone, no matter your age, gender, or background.

Together, we can help create a culture where it’s easier to talk and seek help when it’s needed most.
